London Marathon appoints new directors to lead communications and marketing

London Marathon Events and its parent charity, the London Marathon Foundation, have announced two senior appointments to strengthen their leadership team.

London Marathon has announced the appointment of two new directors; Heather McCormick, to lead communications and public affairs and Guy Fowles, to lead marketing of the world’s leading mass participation events company, London Marathon Events (LME), and its parent charity, the London Marathon Foundation (the Foundation). 

Heather, previously the Director of External Communications at Guardian News & Media, has been appointed Group Communications and Public Affairs Director. Heather brings 20 years of high-level experience in leading strategic communications and engagement for purpose-driven organisations, including the Elton John AIDS Foundation, the Lumos Foundation and the Youth Sport Trust.  

Guy, formerly Managing Director of Wasteland Travel, a leading winter sports tour operator in the gen-Z market, has been named as Marketing Director of London Marathon Events. Guy is a highly experienced Marketing Director with over a decade in senior leadership roles and almost 20 years’ marketing experience with stand-out brands such as Intrepid Travel, Penguin Books and the National Literacy Trust.
